ComicsPRO / S&B #3+4
My time at Comic's Biggest Party
Hello friends! What you may not know is I live in Arcadia, California, which is about a thirty minute drive from Glendale, California - the site of the 2026 ComicsPRO Event!
ComicsPRO
ComicsPRO is a yearly gathering of comic book professionals centered around the direct comic market. Here, you’ll find an intimate gathering of retailers, publishers, press, and creators.
This year, I was invited to exhibit opening night as part of the Creator Showcase. This was first-time event where local creators represented themselves and their wares to comic retailers and others in the industry. I applied as Ray Chou the Comic Creator which felt honestly pretty dang good!
At the table I displayed our comics proudly. And while I did bring the RPGs, they were delegated to the edges of the show. Skies of Fire, Glow, and Sansha & Blanco proudly stood center stage, decades of passion, process, and toil there for three hundred or so to see.
It was great! Like its cousin in the tabletop industry GAMA Expo, ComicsPRO is a place where people are fairly straightforward when it comes to work. People are interested, look at your books, grab your info, and listen to your pitch and are open to asking and answering questions.
The event was only two hours long, but it felt two hours well spent! I learned a lot and was able to talk to a lot of people. One thing that stood out to me is that almost every participant I talked to raved about how ComicsPRO is there favorite event ever. This was repeated to me more than one time by several folk. It seems like a smashing good time is had by all.
Vibe-wise, it felt like a small intimate circle of peers. I think, to be a retailer in Comic Books in 2026 of all things is, well, you got to be living the dream, right? And if you’re a comic book store hip and savvy enough to attend an annual gathering of all of the publishers, distributors, and best stores? Well, you’re probably doing at least decent for yourself. In that way, ComicsPRO feels more self-curated than most other shows.
I mean….I met a lot of stores from Portland, man.
Sansha & Blanco #3+4
Announcement time! We’re going live with Sansha & Blanco #3+4 on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026.
Once again, I am asking you for your help.
Sansha & Blanco is my smallest, most personal comic. It’s about my dogs. It takes place in my hometown. I’m in it, as a slumbering voiceless giant. That’s my house! And my neighbor’s!
I’ve been working on this story since 2017. It means quite a lot to me. It would mean quite a lot to me if you supported the comic by following it on Kickstarter before launch, and then maybe backing it on day 1?
I promise in return you’ll get a story that is full of love, some laughs, and maybe some meaning.
Thanks everyone!
I’m TWO for TWO in 2026! Yeah BABY!!!
Ray
